Hi hi! Happy Friday! I am fifty percent vaccinated (!) how fun is that? Did you cry and/or do a cartwheel? I got very red and sweaty like I always do when I’m excited and nervous. Very chic very cool. I do genuinely love hearing people’s vaccine stories. It really has been a hard year and it’s a good feeling that we’re all getting to experience something that feels positive together after the tough and weird series of events that was 2020. I’ve been feeling hopeful and maybe even optimistic that I’m starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, like life might soon start creeping back to normal (or whatever normal is? I don’t know if we’ll ever stop wearing masks?) but I also feel slightly nervous, like I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. It’s kind of like when you’re out to dinner at your favorite restaurant, you get the best table, you’re vibing with your waiter, everything is just right, your food is served and you look down at your plate and feel a little sad for when it’s gone even though you haven’t picked up your fork yet. Or maybe I’ve just been home alone with my dog too much? How many more times can I type the word feel before I’m banned from the internet? I feel like I have a few more left.
TIAL
Here are a few things I ate and liked this week:
VERY good pork sliders and collard greens in a parking lot in North Charleston on Sunday afternoon from my new favorite farmer, @holycityhogs. I cannot stress to you how good this meal was! I wasn’t planning on eating a pork slider in a parking lot but Farmer Tank convinced us to try and I feel like my taste buds have been forever changed. Also they had cheesecake and I just have a lot of really positive thoughts about a pig farmer/incredible chef who also thinks to bring dessert with him to his parking lot pop up.
My sister’s friend came over and cooked for tortellini and steak for us on Monday and it was also very, very good. It was just a lovely experience to have family dinner and sit at our little island and eat an actual meal together instead of rushing around because one of us has to be somewhere or, full transparency, eating a lean cuisine on the couch while we watch Search Party. It made me feel like a new woman to sit down and take a breath on a Monday night.
The naughty burger and cauli wings from Basic. Our waiter was very cute and their patio is gorgeous. It was a 5 star experience all around.
Somewhere between 4 and 6 smoothies because I have been trying to recreate the Power Protein smoothie from the Daily. I have slowly started to accept that they must have magical blenders or some kind of very fresh dates because I cannot do it. If you want to hang out I will be there at the crack of dawn tomorrow because my smoothies are very mediocre and a slightly alarming purple brownish colors and all I want is a cold, creamy smoothie that tastes like peanut butter and cinnamon. Wait maybe what I actually want is a milkshake?
Everything bagel pretzel crisps and roasted red pepper hummus which I am eating as I type this. I love a 3 PM snack time.
love you
OK that is all I have for you. I just got hummus all over my keyboard and it’s essentially summer outside which always makes me feel like I need a diet coke immediately. I hope your weekend is full of blueberry bagels, a Glitter Pony from LoFi, maybe an arugula salad with prosciutto?! And a fresca if you can find one. Actually get one for me too? Love you see you next week
